The Role of Internal Audit
Definition of Internal Audit
Orbit Group's Internal Audit Team subscribes to the revised definition of Internal Audit by the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), which moves away from the traditional internal auditing, as we knew it. The revised definition which we work to is as follows:
“Internal Auditing is an independent, objective assurance and consulting activity designed to add value and improve an organisation’s operations.
It helps an organisation accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic and disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control and governance processes”.
The Internal Audit Team works to the ethics and standards of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) - UK & Ireland, as a minimum and good practice from other professional bodies.
